We started as guests.
We became advisors.
The perspective that drives our work comes from years of travelling across Egypt as ordinary guests — noticing the small things that made a stay memorable and the avoidable gaps that left people disappointed.
Where this began
Egypt's independent hotels occupy a fascinating position. They sit in places of extraordinary beauty and historical weight. They are often run by people with genuine warmth and deep local knowledge. And they frequently struggle to translate that into the kind of guest experience that earns loyal reviews and repeat visitors.
The gap is rarely about money. It is almost never about the physical condition of the property. It is usually about the details — how a room is presented, how a complaint is handled, how breakfast is framed, how a response to a critical review reads to someone considering a booking.
Slina was founded to work on exactly those details. Not to manage hotels or take operational control, but to bring structured observation and practical advice to the people who run these properties every day.
We chose Luxor, Aswan and Dahab because they represent three distinct travel markets within Egypt, each with different guest profiles and expectations. Knowing those differences well is what allows us to give advice that is actually useful rather than generic.
The principles behind our approach
Honest observation
We tell you what we found, not what is comfortable to hear. A mystery guest audit that softens its findings to avoid awkwardness is not worth the paper it is written on. Clarity is more useful than diplomacy.
Respect for local context
Hospitality in Luxor is not the same as hospitality in Dahab. We do not apply a universal template. The advice we give is grounded in the specific destination, the specific guest profile, and the specific team we are working with.
Practical over theoretical
Every recommendation we make has to be achievable within the real constraints of a small independent property. If it requires a renovation budget or a full management restructure, it is not advice — it is wishful thinking.
Advisory, not managerial
Your property is yours. We are here to help you run it better, not to run it for you. That boundary matters to us and it shapes how we engage at every stage of a project.
Curious whether Slina is the right fit for your property?
A short conversation is the best way to find out. Tell us about your situation and we will be honest about whether and how we can help.
